The rain got us! It's been raining all morning which is good since it gives me a chance to sit down and assess some things as well as do some laundry.
I have a feeling that a good portion of the time in Norway is going to be rainy. Oh well. I have my REI rain cargos and waterproof rain parka.
I was reading through my old posts and saw on my first post about Copenhagen that I talked about not seeing any Metro rail police. Well, I was COMPLETELY wrong. They are out there and they DO NOT F AROUND!!! They get on and off randomly. Patrolling the platforms as well as checking tickets. Ok, I'll be honest, I took a few rides without paying. But once I met Marin and she told me how seriously they are about their railway system, I bought a new card. You can buy tickets a few different ways. A 1 way ticket, a 10 ride ticket, and a 24 hour ride-all-you-want ticket. A single ticket costs 15 to 20 Kroner depending how far you are going which is about $2.80 to $3.80USD. a 10 ride ticket is 120 to 130 Kroner. Or about $25.00USD. If you get caught riding without a ticket... 300 Kroner fine or a little more than $57USD!!! No excuses, no pity. They pull you off at the next stop and write you the ticket. I've seen 2 people get tickets so far. I'm not going to chance that again. A rail ticket is twice the amount of a parking ticket. That's how serious they are. But their rail system is brilliant and kudos to them for building it. Some of the things I've seen over here makes me wonder why the US is so behind. Everything here is built for efficiency and it works beautifully.
I'm contemplating going across the street to the mall though it's really coming down now. To the point where visibility is half of what's pictured above. I can barely see across the street. I'll give it an hour or so then reevaluate. Crissy and Nicole went shoe shopping. Girls and their shoes... Nicole wants to buy a pair of 800 shoes. I have a serious feeling that's in euros since that's how she's been pricing everything which would be over $1000USD. They are peacock feather shoes and she admits that she's wear them once, maybe twice. Jeez...
